History: Sand Pond is a popular swimming destination with a town beach, restroom facilities and walking trails.  The surrounding land is a significant part of the Harwich Conservation Trust’s Priority Ponds Project, with 50 acres of protected land surrounding the pond.  A 1.2-mile walking trail provides views of the pond, vernal pools with frogs and salamanders and bird watching opportunities.
