History: Island Pond is a small shallow kettle pond near Island Pond Cemetery off the Old Colony Rail Trail.  The pond is part of the William and Barbara Hacker Wildlife Sanctuary and Town Island Pond Conservation Lands preserved by the Harwich Conservation Trust.  The conservation lands include the pond, the freshwater wetland, wildlife habitat, walking trails, and the bike trail greenway.  The pond is highly vegetated with both white water lily and yellow pond lily and is a popular fishing spot for largemouth bass, chain pickerel and yellow perch.
