History:  Flax Pond is located in West Harwich just south of the Town of Harwich Transfer Station.  Other land use around the pond includes private homes and cranberry bogs at the western and eastern ends of the pond.  The pond has been subject to various water quality improvement projects over the past few decades due to its contamination from the landfill and fertilizer from the cranberry bogs.  There is little recreation on the pond but there is reported to be fish and wildlife.  Access is limited.
