History: One of the Massachusetts Great Ponds, Bucks Pond has also been known historically as Mill Pond and Great Sand Lake.  It once had a mill and a duck hunting lodge and is now surrounded by private homes.  There is a town beach at the east end.  A recent biological survey found several endangered plant species including Plymouth gentian (Sabatia kennedyana), Puritan smartweed (Persicaria puritanorum), and Terete Arrowhead (Sagittaria teres).  Aquatic vegetation is dense.  The bottom is sand and rock.
