History:  Rushy Pond is a small, highly vegetated shallow pond off Orleans Road west of Depot Road.  Its shoreline consists mainly of undeveloped property with one private house to the north.  The pond is a certified vernal pool with an abundance of wildlife, including rare dragonflies, damselflies, birds, frogs, turtles, snakes and small mammals.  Harwich Conservation Trust is seeking to preserve the land around the pond from development due to its importance in protecting the public water supply and rare local wildlife.
