History:  Cornelius Pond, also known as Eldrige Pond and Briar Pond, is a Massachusetts Great Pond and part of the Six Ponds Resource Management Initiative of the Harwich Conservation Trust (harwichconservationtrust.org/protecting-a-hidden-gem-six-ponds-resource-management-initiative/).  The east end of the pond is protected conservation land.  There are some private houses along the south end of the pond.  Cornelius Pond is connected to Walkers Pond by a narrow waterway to the north.  Cornelius Pond hosts a variety of endangered flora and fauna, including frogs, snakes, turtles, birds and plants, and it is categorized as a rare coastal plain pond.
