History: Named after the Walker family, who were early settlers and landowners in the area,

Walkers Pond is a Massachusetts Great Pond and is part of the Six Ponds Resource Management Initiative, an environmentally sensitive area that includes wetlands, coastal plain pond shores, and rare plant and wildlife habitat (harwichconservationtrust.org/protecting-a-hidden-gem-six-ponds-resource-management-initiative/).  It is a designated as a BioMap 2 Core Habitat which means it is critical for the long-term survival of rare species.  Development around the pond is very limited.
