History: Black Pond is the smallest of the ponds within the Six Ponds Resource Management Initiative of the Harwich Conservation Trust (harwichconservationtrust.org/protecting-a-hidden-gem-six-ponds-resource-management-initiative/).  The shoreline is shallow, and in high water years, Black Pond connects with Hawksnest Pond.  About half of the shoreline is developed with private properties and the remainder is conservation lands that are part of Hawsknest State Park.  There is a parking area to the west of the pond and public access to the pond via a walking trail.  The pond is populated with fish, turtles and pond lilies and is host to endangered flora and fauna.
